Queen's Building, University of Bristol
16 May 2025

We are pleased to have worked alongside John Perkins and the University of Bristol Estate Team to complete a refurbish and remodel of the main area and adjoining areas of this faculty of engineering building.
The project took place over 31 weeks split into two phases at a high-profile site in the heart of Clifton. The first phase saw the lobby upgraded with a higher spec entrance, including a cafe and student facilities, allowing for more connected faculty office space. The second phase included laboratories, toilets and more facilities. The mezzanine and basement were also refurbished.
The Queen's building is frequently used by hundreds of staff and over 2,500 students, it even holds the UK's largest earthquake engineering lab. Consequently, the pressure to deliver was on. The work took place during vacation and term-time but we ensured the building stayed open at all times. Collaborating with various teams and stakeholders made this possible and the project was a major success. We completed on time and significantly under budget.
